Following a recent enquiry we thought we would post an image of the gift that was offered to towns throughout Britain at the end of the war - 265 tanks - in recognition of their efforts in buying War Bonds and War Savings Certificates. Greenock was given one #2367 and were stuck as to what to do with it. They offered it to the McLean Museum to put in their garden but this was eventually rejected. In the end it was placed at the Battery Park where it was basically left to rot. We aren't sure when it was removed but possibly for the scrap programme at the beginning of WW2. One of the boys pictured on the tank is reputedly ex-provost Jimmy Boyd.
