Son of Mr and Mrs John McCandlish, Stranraer. Husband of the late Mary Hillen McCandlish, Greenock. 

Honours

Award the Distinguished Conduct Medal on 16th June 1915 for conspicuous gallantry in leading his section, nearly half of whom were casualties before getting over our own parapet. He nearly reached the enemy's wire alone.

Attached as Acting Sargeant to Supply & Transport Corps.
