John C Denholm

Noted in Port Glasgow Express as receiving wound to arm at Dardanelles. Son of ex Provost Denholm of Greenock. Shipowner. According to the Denholm history he was wounded twice at Gallipoli. He finished the war as Gunnery Lieutenant on a river gunboat on the Danube. Served also on HMS Ladybird. He became a Director of Denholms in 1921. He was in charge of Transport on the Clyde during WW2 and was awarded the CBE. Later knighted in 1955. He died in 1981 aged 87
