Malcolm Carmichael

SON OF ARCHIBALD AND MARY MORRISON CARMICHAEL, OF GREENOCK; HUSBAND OF ELIZABETH ALLAN CARMICHAEL, OF 10, MILLER ST., ABERDEEN.. Worked in the Transport Dept Greenock Cooperative. Born 1883 in Bowmore, Islay. 

Was working at Majeston farm, Inverkip when he joined the Gordon Highlanders in Greenock on 8/2/1904, aged 20. Went on the reserve list 8/5/1907. Worked as a driver for Greenock Co-op until being recalled to the colours in Aberdeen 5/8/1914. Was based in UK till embarking at Southampton, for France, on 10/5/1916. was married on 12/4/1916. wounded in action 18/7/1916 with wounds to chest arm and forearm. transferred to hospital in England on 21/7/1916. passed fit and embarked Folkestone 25/4/1917 for France. posted to 1/6th Battalion 13/5/1917. Missing in action at the Somme 21/3/1918.

Remembered at Arras Memorial, France. Bay 8 and 9.
