Worked as a seaman. Lived 30 Brymner Street. Son of Sophia McEwan, Greenock, and the late Edmund McEwan.

Described as 5 foot 4 inches tall with light brown hair and brown eyes. 

Enlisted 14th October 1914. Draft for Mediterranean Expeditionary Force Dardanelles 5th December 1915. Joined Drake Battalion 10th January 1916, joined base depot Mudros from 31st May 1916. Arrived France 7th June 1916, joined 63rd Divisional Instructional School, Pernes. Found drowned.
