Distinguished Conduct Medal

Whilst in charge of his section in operations, he displayed conspicuous gallantry and initiative in capturing hostile machine guns with their crews. On one occasion, in rushing the guns, his two men were killed. Single handed he attacked the enemy, killed two of the crew, and took the rest prisoners. Throughout he proved himself to be a splendid fighter and set a fine example to all ranks.
