SS Boynton was a 2,578 grt, defensively armed British Merchant steamship built in1892. On the 24th September 1917 when 5 miles WNW from Cape Cornwall she was torpedoed by German submarine UC-47 (Paul Hundius) when on route from Manchester to France with a general cargo. 23 lives, including the Master were lost.
