Iron grinder, born in Larbert. His father's address in 1919 was in Canada while his mother's address was Market Street, Greenock.

Military Cross

Enlisted in 1909 and served in Malta and Dinapore with the 1st Battalion. Served later with the 11th Battalion till injured in 1915 with a bullet to the back. he joined the 5th in February 1916. Mentioned in despatches 18/3/1917 and was home on leave in June 1918.
