The Glasgow Herald of 11th March 1915 reported "Two more Greenock soldiers are reported to have been killed in action... Private Michael Mahon, Leinster Regiment on January 14. Both were young men.".
The Glasgow Herald of 17th April 1915 reported "Private Michael Mahon, 1st Leinster, who resided in Greenock, has been killed in action. He was in India for seven years prior to the outbreak of war, and was drafted to the front with the Indian Expeditionary Force."
