SON OF JOHN S. AND E. PHILLIPS, OF 11, SOUTH ST., GREENOCK, RENFREWSHIRE. Family story tells of him leaving with three friends. Only one came back. Brother of John, Queenie, Cissie, Rea, Isa and Mary. The family owned the cycle shops. His mother is remembered as wearing black from thence on and not ever getting over his death.
