Template maker, born Greenock and living at 5 McKenzie Street, Greenock. His father lived at 13 Argyll Street, Port Glasgow.

Attested in 1909 aged 19. Trained annually at Buddon. Embodied 5/8/1914 Served with BEF 3/5/15 to 7/2/16 when discharged at end of service. Described as 'excellent man. Thoroughly trustworthy, diligent and obliging.
