Born Stonehouse, enlisted Port Glasgow, enlisted Greenock. Lived with his wife at 61 Bouverie Street. Two children. He was employed as a hole borer with Robert Duncan & Co. John was killed when the Hospital ship Warilda was torpedoed in the English Channel, taking him to an English hospital.
