James McFadden/ McFadyen

Lived Lyle Street and worked as a fireman for the Mssrs Neill, Dempster & Neill in Drumfrochar Road. 

Wife was living at 16 Mill Street in 1916 when she recieved word of his injury. 

Honours

Newspapers at the time report him being awarded the DCM (Distinguished Conduct Medal)  and receiving it from the Duke of Montrose in Edinburgh Castle in 1917. He was awarded this medal for saving the lives of six men during the Battle of Loos in 1915 at the age of 21. 

Enlisted with the 10th Battalion of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

He returned home in 1918 after suffering from an injury, two years after he survived a GSW to the chest on the 17th July 1916.
