The Ardglass was built by Russel & Co., Port Glasgow. Whilst on her maiden voyage on Italian Government service from Clyde to Mediterranean with coal, was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine UC-31, 6 miles east of the Maidens, with the loss of six lives.
