Born Nov 22 1880 in Greenock. Father was Peter McPhail b1850 at Kilmichael. Mother Elizabeth Kerr born 1852 in Greenock. 

Edward emigrated to Canada in 1903. He attested in the Canadian Expeditionary Force while living in Moosejaw, Canada. He then lived in Vancouver until moving to California in 1923. He died on October 5th 1971
