Son of Walter and Eliza Best, of 38, Cleveland Rd., South Woodford, London. Joined London Rifle Brigade as Pte. before the war, served in Egypt, France and Dardanelles. Native of Glasgow. Went to school at Greenock Academy. Remembered also at Ilford War Memorial Hall.
