Arthur McCulla/ Mculla/ McCullagh

Parents were Patrick and the late Mary McCulla. Patrick lived Main Street, Bushmills, Co. Antrim, Ireland. Arthur was one of 15 children. 

Lived with sister at 77 Bouverie Terrace, Port Glasgow. Another brother Allan Mills McCullagh was serving also. Alans son Alan Lamont was killed in WW2. 

Sweetheart Sarah Kitchen who lived at 232 Bouverie Street was awaiting his return. 

Was a Roman Catholic who could not swim according to his service records. Worked as a Labourer prior to the war. 

Also known as Mculla and McCullagh. 

Service records note that he was 5 foot 5 inches tall, with a ruddy complextion, dark hair and brown eyes. 

Joined Anson Battalion 22nd August 1914.
