Son of Archibald Harvie Macneill and Jessie Wright Macneill, of "Hillside," Courthill Avenue, Cathcart, Glasgow. 

Some mix up with the spelling - his name is on the Kilmacolm War Memorial as Archibald McNeill but CWGC has him as Archibald Macneill. Joined 9th H.L.I. (Glasgow Highlanders) on 5th Sept., 1914, as a Private. Went to France in Jan., 1915. Wounded at La Bassee on 13th March, 1915. Born at Glasgow.
