Left in 1914 for Canada. Played for several seasons with Greenock Wanderers
Obtained commission into Scottish Rifles in September 1916 and transfered to Royal Scots in October 1916, the Greenock Telegraph reported.
Manchester Evening News 20 April 1917 notes the death of Allan Taylor, son of JD Taylor Surveyor of Customs & Excise at Greenock. Had previouly been reported wounded in the Greenock Telegraph.
