Born Glasgow. Secretary of Woodvale Football Club in Gourock. He was an apprentice plater with the Greenock & Grangemouth Dockyard. Married to Martha and lived Mead Bank, Gourock

Medal Roll date of entry MEF 1/6/15 Listed on SNWM as Sergeant. Wounded in the ankle on 12th July and sent to Stobhill Hospital. Went back to his work but signed up again and joined the battalion in Palestine.
